To look at, P230 is very similar to the Walther PP and PPK. Originally it was available in 7.65 mm (.32ACP) caliber with a capacity of 8 rounds and in 9 mm Short (.380 ACP) or 9x18 m (9mm Police) for 7 rounds. A special training model was also available in .22 LR caliber (10 shot). In 1995 Sig Sauer discontinued the 7.65 mm (.32 ACP) caliber version, this was followed by the 9x18 mm version in 1996. The P230 has the distinctive Sig Sauer unlocking lever on the left –hand side of the frame. The take down lever is also on the left- hand side of the frame, above the front of the trigger guard. The magazine release is in the grip heel. The P230 does not have safety catch, but does have automatic firing pin safety. This pistol has a recoil and the barrel is fixed to the alloy frame. The slide is made of blued steel, however the model P230SL is also available with a stainless steel slide. The total length of the P230 is 165mm (6 ½ in), the barrel length is 89 mm (3 ½ in) and the height is 120 mm (4 ¾ in). This pistol has a fixed rear sight with a sight radius of 112mm (4 ½ in).
